Official: All sanctioned Russian firms ask for state support

ST. PETERSBURG, May 25 (PRIME) -- All Russian companies hit by the latest U.S. sanctions have asked the government to provide state support, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak told reporters on Friday.

“Many of them. In fact, all of them who were hit by the sanctions,” he said.

On April 6, the U.S. imposed sanctions against 38 Russian tycoons, officials and companies, including tycoon Oleg Deripaska and companies under his control – En+ Group, GAZ Group, Basic Element, and UC RUSAL.

On Thursday, a government source said that Deripaska had sent a request to the government asking it to buy aluminum into state reserves. Earlier on Friday, presidential aide Andrei Belousov confirmed the fact that the proposition exists, but declined to comment on the matter.
